CIRRUS is a Nordic-Baltic network of Art and Design higher education. There are 21 excellent art and design schools from the Nordics and the Baltics in the circle of this cooperation. The central activities of the partner institutions are art and design, including innovative activities, technical development and artistic practices.

Vilnius Academy of Arts (within the project framework”INOAKADEMIJA”) in collaboration with the company NARBUTAS welcomes CIRRUS network students to participate in an open creative workshop, run by the famous designer from Denmark Boris Berlin on March 6-10.

Designer – Boris Berlin (Denmark) became famous on the international design scene with his diverse design creations and experimental production methods that have resulted in award-winning design objects.

Together with the partners of the design study programmes Komplot Design and Iskos – Berlin, B. Berlin has created striking works in the fields of industrial, furniture and graphic design and is considered one of the most famous designers living in Denmark. He also curates and designs design exhibitions, conducts creative workshops and master classes at art and design schools, and gives presentations at design conferences.

 

When creating – he focuses on experiments with new technologies and materials, exploring their possibilities and effects on the design of objects. His client base spans geography from Denmark and Sweden to the US and Japan, including companies such as Gubi, Hay, Muuto, Normann, Fritz Hansen, R+R, Källemo, Tendo Mokko, Stylex Seating, Jot.Jot and so on.

Products created by Boris Berlin have received numerous design awards, including: Dansk Designpris, G-Mark (Japan’s Golden Design Award), The Forum AID Award: Best Nordic product, Red Dot. Best of the Best, Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany, etc.

His works are exhibited in the Copenhagen’s Design Museum Denmark, New York’s MoMa, Vitra Design Museum, Kolding’s Trapholt, Munich’s Die Neue Sammlung – The Design Museum and other collections of contemporary art and design museums. Boris Berlin is awarded the Thorvald Bindesbøll Medal of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and an honorary scholarship of the Danish Art Foundation.

Grant amount: 330 travel (Iceland 660) + 250 weekly allowance. All sums in EUR.
