CIRRUS is a Nordic-Baltic network of Art and Design higher education. There are 20 excellent art and design schools from the Nordics and the Baltics in the circle of this cooperation. The central activities of the partner institutions are art and design, including innovative activities, technical development and artistic practices.

Please fill in an application form consisting of your photo, motivation statment and a letter of support from your home institution confirming that it will allocate the necessary time and financial resources for your participation.

About the board (excerpt from CIRRUS network agreement)

  • The board of the network comprises 3 to 7 faculty members from the CIRRUS institutions and is elected every three years at the network meeting.
  • The board is responsible for running the network together with the secretariat (general network coordinator). The responsibilities of the board are: strategic planning and leadership, policy making of the network and beyond, planning of the network activities, cooperation and guidelines to the secretariat.
  • The decision making body is the annual CIRRUS network meeting. Meanwhile, the board of the network is leading the network.
  • The board members may be nominated by home institutions or other member institutions. The board member must have full support from the leadership of the home institution.
  • The board will constitute one of the board members as the Chair of the network.

General information

A board member must have sufficient time and resources to work actively on CIRRUS matters. They are expected to attend three in-person meetings per year; all other board meetings are held online. Therefore, the home institution must guarantee that the nominee is provided with the necessary time and funding.

The prospective board member is expected to attend the entire network meeting in Umeå from 8–10 October 2025 and to be available for the inaugural meeting of the new CIRRUS Board on Friday afternoon, 10 October 2025.

Election Procedure

  • Candidate presentations:
    Each candidate must deliver a two-minute presentation at the General Assembly on Friday, October 10, introducing themselves and explaining their motivation for joining the board.
  • Voting:
    Every member institution will cast one vote during the General Assembly, which takes place at the Annual Network Meeting in Umeå, morning of October 10.
  • Further details:
    Comprehensive information on the voting process will be distributed in September 2025, ahead of the network meeting.

Costs

Board service is voluntary. The home institution is expected to cover the member’s expenses (CIRRUS may be able to provide partial travel support).
