University Lecturer in industrial design 50%

Umeå Institute of Design is looking for a teacher in industrial design with focus on product design and 3D visualisation. You have a master degree in industrial design, documented good knowledge of the design process in product design, and a focus on user centered design. This is a permanent (50%) position. Key responsibilities

As lecturer in industrial design, you will work with teaching and tutoring of students on basic and advanced level in industrial design with focus on product design and 3D visualisation.

You are responsible for education planning and developing education in industrial design, mainly in product design and 3D visualisation, together with our programme directors, teachers, other staff and students.

You work collaboratively internally as well as externally to develop the industrial design field and the activities in general at Umeå Institute of Design.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a person with a master degree in industrial design with documented good knowledge of the design process in industrial design, with a strong focus on product design and user centered design.

It is important that you have good pedagogical and collaborative skills. When evaluating pedagogical skills we will look at documented merits of educating in the field of industrial design, such as teaching, tutoring or education planning in higher education in design. Experience of other pedagogical activities, and pedagogical training, are also meriting.

We are looking for a person with good knowledge and skills in the design process in product design, from ideation and sketching to the form work and visualization in both physical and digital 3D. Experience of visualization and storytelling in film and animation is an advantage. It is also important that you can plan your work independently and work with teaching both individually and in collaboration with others.

It is an advantage if you are skilled in structuring collaboration projects together with external partners. It is also a merit to have experience of working with, for example, Rhino, Solidworks, Aftereffects, Alias or Maya.

Proficiency in English is essential, both written and spoken. Knowledge in Swedish is an advantage.
